Baselworld, economic locomotive for trade and the watch industry, is no more. The MCH Group speaks of a new beginning.

The former world's leading trade fair Baselworld no longer exists. There is talk of a loss of revenue of 140 million francs for the MCH Group and several hundred million for local and national trade.

In its press release, however, the MCH Group does not want to say what the agreement that has now been reached with the exhibitors on Baselworld 2021 not taking place looks like. There is talk of an "amicable solution" with the exhibitor customers. Bernd Stadlwieser, CEO of the MCH Group (pictured), says only: "With the amicable conclusion of Baselworld 2020, we can now concentrate fully on the future."

Baselworld 2021 is canceled

The MCH Group has decided not to hold Baselworld 2021, scheduled for 28 January to 2 February 2021, following the withdrawal of the watch industry's most important exhibitors. "We are working intensively with exhibitors and visitors to clarify and discuss the needs and possibilities of new platforms," explains Michel Loris-Melikoff (pictured), Managing Director of Baselworld. "We will decide on possible follow-up formats by summer and then inform about the new concept and scheduling."

Baselworld was supposed to take place this summer. But it has probably passed its zenith. Michel Loris-Melikoff (pictured below), Managing Director of Baselworld and head of the fair respectively: "We will decide on possible follow-up formats by the summer and then inform about the new concept and scheduling."
