The giant caquelon from Gstaad will soon be on display at the museum in Frankfurt from May 6 to September 17, 2017. Two of these giant caquelons have already been installed in the Gstaad region, one on Schlittmoos near Schönried and the other on the Wispile. The request from Frankfurt was the initial spark that got the project off the ground, thanks to a silent sponsor.

The giant caquelon of Gstaad will soon go to the museum in Frankfurt. From May 6 to September 17, 2017, the museum will show the giant caquelon. Two of these giant caquelons were already in the region Gstaad installed, one on Schlittmoos near Schönried, the other on the Wispile. The request from Frankfurt was the initial spark that started the project. Thanks to a silent sponsorWith remaining funds from the project phase of Gstaad2020 plus and thanks to the generous support of a sponsor who does not wish to be named, the necessary funds for the construction of the exhibit came about. Reto Burri of Chaletbau Burri Lauenen, co-initiator and manufacturer of the two previous models, was very pleased with this follow-up order. Plans and construction experience were, after all, on call and so, in the course of the first weeks of 2017, the wooden representative of Swiss cheese and picnic culture was created for the exhibition in Frankfurt.Free admission on Swiss National DayThe Swiss Consulate General in Frankfurt also found such an authentic setting exciting and is inviting the people of Frankfurt to a free entry to the museum and a raclette picnic with the sounds of the alphorn at the Caquelon on August 1st. Products and information from Gstaad will also contribute to the festivities. Preparations for this event have already begun in Gstaad. At the same time, Gstaad Marketing GmbH, which has since been founded, has also taken care of the transportation of this authentic piece of Swiss craftsmanship. It is scheduled for the end of April.Support also from Switzerland TourismBecause the robust exhibit also wonderfully reflects Switzerland Tourism's theme for the year, "Back to Nature", Switzerland Tourism Germany has agreed to place a row of deckchairs alongside the giant caquelon. They are intended to invite visitors to the Museum Angewandte Kunst to linger in the museum's Metzlerpark. The exhibition will officially open on May 5. It explores the fascination of picnics across different times and cultures.
