The National Museum in Zurich is getting an extension. Opening is July 31.With the extension building, the National Museum Zurich gets a modern brother in August 2016. The most visited cultural history museum in the country shows Swiss history and makes Swiss identities as well as the historical, social and cultural diversity of the country accessible.The building of the National Museum Zurich is an ensemble of a delicate historical old building from 1898 and a new sculptural wing that closes the existing complex. This allows a tour through old and new. The new building has given the museum large, flexible exhibition halls, a modern library and an auditorium for public events.The opening partyFrom July 31 to August 1, there will be a celebration. During 26 hours the museum is open and shows among other things the two new exhibitions "Archaeology Switzerland" and "Europe in the Renaissance. Metamorphoses 1400 - 1600". The supporting program for young and old additionally includes guided tours with the exhibition teams, panel discussions in the new auditorium, a visit to the new bistrot or restaurant and to the cinema for a Swiss classic.
