Messages to celebrities flood Facebook news feeds
Many users found Facebook hard to use at times on Wednesday because their news feeds were flooded with messages from complete strangers to celebrities.
Facebook explained the problem with a configuration error and apologized for the inconvenience. Some users who had subscribed to Facebook posts from very popular artists such as Coldplay, Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga were hit particularly hard. In some cases, nothing but fan messages could be seen in their feeds.
Some users quickly switched gears and sent jokes or advertisements for cryptocurrencies via messages to celebrity accounts - hoping that more people would see them that way.
