Twitter launches subscription offer - initially in Australia and Canada

For the first time, Twitter is introducing functions for subscription users only. Among other things, they will be able to modify finished tweets for 30 seconds in the future. They will also be able to better organize saved tweets in "bookmark" folders and get their own customer support, Twitter announced on Thursday. The subscription, called Twitter Blue, will initially be introduced in Australia and Canada.

Twitter has earned its money with advertising so far. In practice, this means that advertisers can place their tweets as ads in the timelines of users who never subscribe to them. Twitter has been thinking about additional revenue from a subscription model for quite some time.

With the new editing function, Twitter does not fulfill the wish of many users for the possibility to change the posts afterwards. Rather, it is possible to delay the publication of tweets by up to 30 seconds - and still adjust them during this time. For subscription customers, there are also aesthetic innovations such as the option to customize the Twitter app's icon and color design in the application. (SDA)
