Storyclash ranking: SRF, Izzy and NZZ make further gains in February

The Swiss media experienced a rather tepid social media February. But the Storyclash ranking shows that there are also winners.

Swiss media lost 11.4 percent of interactions in social media in February. This is not only because February only had 28 days, but also because "interaction heavyweights" such as Swissmeme and 20 Minuten each lost around 15 percent.

As in previous months, however, SRF was able to make gains: plus 27.5 percent means 4th place. Together with Blick.ch, SRF is the only medium in the Top 6 that performed better in February than in the previous month. It seems rather unlikely that this was directly related to the No Billag initiative. After all, the reason for the strengthening at Leutschenbach is Instagram: SRF achieved 140,000 more interactions on this network than in January - a remarkable 380,000 in total.

Since its launch, Ringier's youth medium Izzy has also been able to make gains in every month. This did not change in February either - the 22 percent increase in interactions means a new 7th place. It is quite possible that the rise will continue in March, because 6th place, Swissfeed, is only about 5000 interactions more within reach.

The NZZ also interacts successfully in February and makes up four places. Almost without Instagram, but with a strong focus on Facebook and Twitter. The NZZ succeeded in posting the article of the month: "Grosse Koalition: Die deutsche Lust am Niedergang," a guest commentary by German political scientist Wolfgang Bok, generated a lot of feedback on social media and 45,000 interactions on Facebook alone.

Western Switzerland still likes to read articles on Facebook

The remaining top posts (articles) continue to confirm a trend that was already noticeable in the last two months: For the French-speaking Swiss, Facebook still seems to be a relevant information portal - four articles in the top 5 come from 20minutes.ch. And once again, Islam and animal suffering prove to be reliable guarantors for social interaction.

The Top Posts images continue to be dominated at will by Swissmeme: No other player makes it into the top 20 in February either. Behind the portal stands Zeki Bulgurcu, who has been social media manager at 3+ since August. With 3.5 million (!) monthly interactions on Instagram, Swissmeme is and remains the undisputed number one in the Swiss Storyclash ranking.

The situation is different for video posts: Energy, FMtoday and Izzy took the top three places in February.

The Austrian start-up Storyclash records social interaction with media content. Every month, the Social News Ranking shows which media providers performed how and which were the posts with the most interactions. Werbewoche publishes the ranking exclusively in Switzerland. (hae)
