Ex-agent wants to buy Twitter and ban Trump

A former CIA agent wants to buy Twitter to take away US President Donald Trump's favorite mouthpiece. She launched a crowdfunding campaign to do so. The ambitious goal is to raise one billion dollars.

Valerie Plame Wilson wants to use the money to secure a majority stake in the short message service. "It's time to shut him down," she wrote on her campaign website, referring to Trump. Subsequently, the former undercover agent wants to obtain Trump's expulsion from Twitter. Plame Wilson stated that Trump's tweets damage the country and put people in danger. With the threat of nuclear war against North Korea, the president is taking this to the extreme.

Plame Wilson had launched the campaign last week. There are already individual donations of up to $100. However, it is unlikely that the fundraising will be successful. As of Wednesday, 6,000 dollars had been received.

Trump's constant tweeting causes controversy on an almost daily basis. In his remarks, he had already threatened war, insulted enemies as well as allies, and sometimes even unexpectedly changed policy course on certain issues - such as last month when he announced transgender people would no longer be allowed to serve in the U.S. military.
