This is the result of research by the Handelszeitung. A few weeks ago, the Group took over the university project "Zurich Eye". The ten researchers from ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich teach machines how to see, so to speak, and enable them to move autonomously and extremely precisely in space. The team will now become part of Oculus, Facebook's virtual reality subsidiary.

Facebook confirms first-time involvement in Zurich. "Oculus is opening a development office for machine vision in Zurich," says Facebook spokeswoman Tina Kulow. Sources close to the company say that the small research facility will work exclusively for Oculus.

Almost simultaneously, Facebook has increased the scope of action of Facebook Switzerland in recent months. The subsidiary based in Vernier GE is receiving more money, new tasks and an additional address at Bahnhofstrasse 100 in Zurich. This emerges from documents of the Commercial Registry Office Geneva, which the "Handelszeitung" had access to. The company's share capital has been increased from 120,000 francs to 2.02 million francs. The company's purpose is now additionally stated as "research and development".
