Google presents numerous Android updates at CES 2024

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show CES in Las Vegas, the world's largest tech trade fair, Google is presenting numerous Android updates. In future, users will be able to do even more with their smartphone, laptop, Bluetooth accessories, TV, smart home and car.

With Quick Share, Google and Samsung are bringing together the best features of their respective file sharing solutions. Quick Share will be available on all devices in the Android and Chromebook ecosystem. Quick Share will also be pre-installed as an app on Windows PCs.

Quick Share

Thanks to Fast Pair, Bluetooth accessories can be quickly connected to devices such as the Android phone or Chromebook. Next month, Fast Pair support will be extended to Chromecast with Google TV and later in the year to other Google TV devices.

Casting functions

In addition, for more applications and devices Casting functions will be available. Among other things, TikTok content can be transferred from smartphones to built-in Chromecast devices from today. Chromecast will also be integrated into more devices, such as the 2024 LG TV series. Thanks to a new feature, a compatible Pixel Phone will also be able to easily cast from Spotify or YouTube Music to a docked Pixel tablet nearby later this year.

Smart Home compatibility

Google is striving for industry standards in the smart home sector in order to create greater compatibility between devices from different providers, and therefore also supports Matter. In future, LG TVs, selected "Google TV" and other "Android TV OS" devices will serve as hubs for Google Home. Anyone who owns a Nest Hub, Nest Mini or a compatible TV can easily add Matter devices to the Home Network and control them with the Google Home app.

Android Auto

Finally, the Android Auto various helpful upgrades. For example, e-cars compatible with Android Auto will be able to share real-time battery information with Google Maps; this feature will be available first for Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning in the coming months. Or additional car brands will be equipped with Google Built-in which integrates helpful apps such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and more from Google Play directly into the car display.
