Swiss Post acquires majority stake in cybersecurity company

Swiss Post invests in cyber security and acquires a majority stake in Hacknowledge, a company based in western Switzerland.

The acquisition adds knowledge to securely exchange confidential information and customer data on the Internet, Swiss Post said Wednesday. The transaction was completed on Tuesday. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

The aim is to transfer the secrecy of correspondence into the digital world, Nicole Burth, head of communication services at Swiss Post, is quoted as saying in the communiqué. Hacknowledge is intended in particular to help identify and respond to cyber threats to authorities, companies and Swiss Post itself.

Hacknowledge employs 46 people. The company is based in Morges VD. It will reportedly continue to operate as an independent company in the future. (sda.)
