Last year was not only an anniversary year for Hostpoint, but also another record year despite the pandemic-related challenges. Annual sales generated totaled CHF 26.8 million. Year-on-year growth thus amounted to CHF 2.8 million (11.7 percent), representing the largest sales growth in the company's history.

"We are of course very pleased about this excellent result and see it as confirmation that we are on the right track with our strategy. In 2021, we have continued to invest heavily in the further development of our platform and our products, as well as in the further expansion of our support offering," explains Hostpoint CEO and Co-Founder Markus Gebert.

A particular highlight of the past year was the 20th anniversary of the former Rapperswil tech start-up. In these two decades, Hostpoint has succeeded in growing continuously and establishing itself as the largest provider of web hosting and domain registrations in Switzerland. Today, Hostpoint employs 78 people.

Milestone of one million managed domains targeted

In the very important domain business, Hostpoint is taking giant steps towards the "magic milestone" of one million domains. As of the end of 2021, Hostpoint managed a total of 919,523 domain names, representing growth of 15.9 percent. The figures also confirm the growth trend in web hosting. The total number of all hosted websites increased by 5 percent to 305,281. This includes more than 100,000 WordPress installations, enabling Hostpoint to further consolidate its position as the leading WordPress service provider in the Swiss market. In addition, more and more private customers and companies are relying on Hostpoint's e-mail services. As a result, a total of 722,578 e-mail addresses were managed at Hostpoint as of the end of 2021 (up 6.1 percent).

In 2021, Hostpoint also implemented various measures in the area of Internet security. For example, the DNSSEC security standard has already been activated for a large number of .ch and .li domains registered with Hostpoint. As of the end of 2021, Hostpoint had over 300,000 domains with DNSSEC signatures.

While a number of foreign investors are currently making headlines in the Swiss hosting market with takeovers of local providers, Hostpoint continues to focus entirely on the "Swissness" factor, as Markus Gebert emphasizes: "We want to remain the leading Swiss provider for Swiss customers in the long term and continue to go our own, independent way. In doing so, our position should even improve as a result of the changed market environment." Hostpoint continues to be 100 percent owner-managed and therefore fully Swiss-owned. In addition, all customer data is stored in Switzerland.
