Bandara implements AR egg hunt in Spar

A digital Easter promotion was waiting for customers in Spar stores throughout German-speaking Switzerland this year: Using their smartphones, customers could go in search of virtual Easter eggs. Bandara developed a web-based augmented reality experience for this.

A QR code at the entrance to the store took the user to a landing page where, after a short instruction, the AR mode could be started and the search for virtual eggs in the store could begin. Those who found three of a total of five hidden eggs could take part in the raffle. The prizes included Spar shopping vouchers and admission to Europapark.

"Today, augmented reality applications no longer require an app download," says Lukas Haltmeier, Online Marketing Manager at Spar Handels AG. "This means that the technology is now also very attractive for use in the retail sector."
