Valora gets into business with Twint
After years of negotiations, Swiss retailer Valora is getting into business with payment app Twint.
This writes the Handelszeitung in its current issue. "We will replace our payment terminals in all retail outlets in Switzerland from summer 2019 and activate Twint on these terminals thereafter - at the end of 2019 / beginning of 2020," confirms Roger Vogt, CEO of Valora's retail business.
Initially, Twint will be accepted at more than 1000 Swiss retail outlets of Valora's K Kiosk, Press & Books and Avec formats. The 90 or so Swiss outlets of the Brezelkönig, Caffè Spettacolo and Backwerk formats are to follow at a later, as yet undetermined, date.
Vogt explains the successful outcome of years of negotiations with Twint as follows: "For Valora, it was always important that no exclusive and costly IT installations and program interfaces had to be implemented at the point of sale for a new solution." Since the payment provider is now offering a solution without the Twint beacon, this can be integrated into the new terminals.
