Digitec remains Switzerland's top-selling online shop in 2017

Carpathia once again publishes the rankings of the top-selling online shops and digital sales platforms - this year for the first time as a separate poster with additional graphics on Swiss e-commerce.

The Poster contains, in addition to the ranking for the top 30 B2C online shops, a ranking for the top 10 B2B online shops with the highest turnover and, for the first time, the top 5 corporate groups. The Auctions & Travel Platforms ranking, familiar from previous years, has been slightly updated and renamed Travel, Tickets and Horizontal Platforms.

The data basis was publicly available company information as well as statistical data from EHI/Statista for places 11-30 B2C. Carpathia refined the survey through information from companies themselves and its own analysis - all data was verified by Carpathia and a group of experts coordinated by it. Turnover is defined as the net turnover achieved online or mobile in retail with end customers, i.e. excluding VAT and adjusted for returns and cancellations.

Like last year, the online shops of Digitec, Zalando and Amazon once again lead the ranking of the top 30 B2C. However, there have been notable shifts compared to last year: Aliexpress is a newcomer to the ranking and occupies eighth place, while ifolor has moved up several places and just missed out on the top 10 in eleventh place.

Also newly included in the ranking is wish.com: The up-and-coming marketplace based in the USA, but like Aliexpress with a majority of Chinese suppliers, is in 21st place. The decline in sales at Nespresso is not due to a poorer result, but to the fact that the nevertheless substantial share of telephone orders was factored out this year.

Compared to last year's survey, an increase in turnover can be seen for the vast majority of the shops listed: A B2C shop with a turnover of less than CHF 102 million in 2016 no longer makes it into the top 10 - CHF 72 million was still sufficient for 2015.

In B2B, Alltron, which was listed for the first time, took second place from Lyreco with CHF 195 million. Elektro-Material remains unchallenged in first place.

The Top 10 Travel, Tickets & Horizontal Platforms ranking is led by swiss.com, followed ever more closely by the booking platform booking.com. The revenues in this ranking correspond to the net value of the services and goods brokered (GMV).
