This is what the Handelszeitung writes in its current issue. In order to increase the German retailer's clout and reach, it is looking to partner with the US online giant, confirms Tegut spokeswoman Stella Kircher: "We are currently in a test phase with Amazon to offer groceries outside of Tegut's regular area and store hours."

In the process, Tegut will list goods with Amazon for three services, Kircher says: "This involves an expansion of the dry goods assortment in the Amazon.de, Amazon Prime Now and Amazon Prime Pantry services." Industry experts expect the collaboration to launch in April or May. Tegut is not providing details on the size of the assortment. In the industry, it is assumed that it will comprise over a thousand items.

Tegut has belonged to the Migros Zürich cooperative since 2013. The German company generated sales of around one billion Swiss francs in 2016 with 280 supermarkets.
