Schweiz: Preissturz beim Surfen auf dem Handy
Viele Handybesitzer haben bis heute die Internetfunktionen ihres Telefons nie genutzt. Die Tarife waren zu hoch und teils undurchsichtig. Nun dreht der Wind: In den vergangenen Monaten haben gemäss SDA alle Telekomanbieter neue und deutlich günstigere Tarife für die mobile Internetnutzung eingeführt. So kann man auch mit einem Prepaid-Abo bereits für 5 Franken einen Tag lang das Internet nutzen.
Den Preissturz bei den Internet-Tarifen haben die Handybesitzer unter anderem auch dem iPhone zu verdanken: Weil dieses Gerät nur bei gleichzeitiger Internetnutzung wirklich Sinn macht, haben die Telekomanbieter bei der Lancierung des neuen Telefons auch gleich ihre Internettarife angepasst. Vom dadurch ausgelösten Preissturz – die Tarife wurden teilweise um 90 Prozent reduziert - profitieren nun alle Handynutzer.
Zum Vergleich: Im Jahr 2004 zahlte man mit einem Prepaid-Handy noch 30 Pappen für 10 Kilobyte Daten, die man aus dem Internet abholte oder verschickte. Ein Gigabyte hätte damals stolze 30'000 Franken gekostet. Wer heute ein iPhone kauft, kann jeden Monat ein Gigabyte Internetdaten verbrauchen und bezahlt dafür beim günstigsten Anbieter 44 Franken monatlich. Man muss aber nicht ein neues Handy kaufen, um von einem solchen Abo profitieren zu können. Bestehende Verträge lassen sich bei den meisten Anbietern auf die neuen Abos mit günstigem Internet-Volumen ändern.

The United States and England meet today for one of the World Cup's most anticipated match-ups, 60 years in the making.
The Americans are ranked 14th, while England ranks eighth. But the underdogs say they are ready for a victory that is long overdue, says CBS news correspondent Mark Phillips.
